“Senate Lawmakers Appear Opposed to Full Section 230 Repeal”
A more targeted approach or full repeal? This is the question currently on the minds of lawmakers as they determine how to tackle the 30-year-old law that “built the internet."
While Senators all agreed that the law wasn't sacrosanct, there was broad skepticism to an all out repeal. Expert witnesses tended to agree, and argued for a more targeted approach to reign in the harms of Big Tech while preserving free speech online. This puts the "Sunset Section 230 Act", a bill introduced by Sens. Dick Durban D-Ill. and Lindsey Graham R-S.C., into question.
